Connect Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to Organiq
· Organiq · third-party facts carry source and date in the text
Ask the AI to call list_ga4_properties, confirm which property measures the site and it stores the link with set_ga4_property; this enables get_ai_traffic, the sessions from AI assistants. In the dashboard: app.organiqgeo.com/site/<id>, "Integrations" block, Choose GA4 property. The Google consent is the human's.
What does GA4 enable in Organiq?
Referral sessions from AI assistants according to GA4 (chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini, copilot, claude…): per source, with sessions, active users, engaged sessions and key events, totals, daily series and comparison with the previous period. In the connector this is the get_ai_traffic tool; the same sessions feed generate_seo_report and get_weekly_digest, and the dashboard shows the "AI traffic" block. Limit of the data: Search Console does not separate clicks inside AI Overviews / AI Mode; GA4 measures referral traffic only (how GA4 sees AI traffic).
Step by step in the dashboard
- Prerequisite: the Search Console property already connected (guide) and the Google account connected with the Google Analytics permission (it comes in the same consent).
- Open
app.organiqgeo.com/site/<id>(theidappears inlist_sitesand in the dashboard URL) or step 2 of app.organiqgeo.com/onboarding and, if the block is collapsed, click Link GA4, Bing and brand terms. - In the Google Analytics 4 section, click Choose GA4 property and pick, from the list, the property that measures this site. If it is not listed, use Or type the GA4 property ID (a number such as 123456789) and Save.
- The "GA4 linked" badge appears and the sync fetches the GA4 history (up to 16 months when available). Changing the property later clears the GA4 data already synced and fetches it again; Unlink removes the link.
If you are an AI assistant, what can you do on your own?
The connector's setup tools (list_ga4_properties, set_ga4_property, set_bing_site, set_bing_key, set_branded_terms) write only Organiq settings, never to Search Console, GA4 or Bing, and need the mcp:write scope. What you, the assistant, can do on your own:
- Call
list_sitesto get the propertyidandcheck_connection, which returnshasGa4,hasBing,brandedTermsCountand themissinglist with apanelUrlandnextStepper property. - Call
list_ga4_properties: it returns the numeric id, name and account of each GA4 property the connected Google account can see. Show the list to the human and ask them to confirm which property measures this site. - With the id confirmed, call
set_ga4_propertywithsiteandga4PropertyId: it stores the link in Organiq (nothing changes in GA4) and the next sync fetches the history. - If a tool returns
insufficient_scope, the token lacks themcp:writescope: the human removes the connector and adds it again (the sign-in asks formcp:read mcp:writeand the consent screen lists whatmcp:writeallows). The dashboard path still works: Hand the human the direct link (app.organiqgeo.com/site/<id>, "Integrations" block, or app.organiqgeo.com/onboarding) and the exact button name, then wait until they say it is done. - After
set_ga4_property(or when the human says the dashboard step is done), callcheck_connectionagain: the property now hashasGa4: trueand leavesmissing(codeno_ga4);get_ai_trafficreturns data after the next sync.
What only the human does, in their own browser or portal:
- Confirm which GA4 property measures the site: the list comes from their Google account and the choice is theirs.
- Consent on Google, with their account. If the Analytics permission is missing (error
scope_missing), click Reconnect Google account in the dashboard or sign in again through the client: it is a Google consent in the browser.
Common errors and what to do
- Notice "The connected Google account has not authorised Google Analytics yet" (error
scope_missing): the account was connected without the Analytics permission, common for accounts linked before October 30, 2026. Click Reconnect Google account in that section and, on Google's screen, tick the Google Analytics permission; then choose the property. - "No GA4 property found in the connected Google account": the account has no access to the GA4 property (it may belong to another account). Ask for viewer access in Google Analytics for the same account, or connect the account that owns it; typing the numeric ID only works if the account can access it.
get_ai_trafficreturnsno_datawith apanelUrl: the property has no GA4 linked (hasGa4: falseinlist_sites). Do the steps above; if you already linked it, wait for the next daily sync.- GA4 linked but everything is zero: GA4 only records AI traffic as referrals; if the site gets no visits from those domains, zero is the real number. Check Traffic acquisition in GA4 for sessions with source chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need GA4 to use Organiq?
No. GA4 is optional; without it every Search Console analysis keeps working. It only adds the traffic coming from AI assistants.
Can one GA4 property serve several sites?
The link is per Search Console property: each one points to one GA4 property, and the same GA4 property can be chosen in more than one if it is the one measuring those sites.
Where do I find the GA4 property ID?
In Google Analytics, under Admin → Property → Property details (a 9-digit number, without the "G-" prefix). The "G-" prefix is the stream ID, not the property ID.
Does Organiq change anything in GA4?
No. The requested scope is analytics.readonly; the connector only reads reports. set_ga4_property stores the link inside Organiq only.
Can the AI link GA4 on its own?
Almost: it lists the properties (list_ga4_properties) and stores the chosen one (set_ga4_property) with the mcp:write scope, but the human confirms the property and consents on Google. Anyone who connected before October 30, 2026 removes the connector and adds it again so the sign-in asks for mcp:write.
When does the GA4 data show up?
After the first sync, run by the worker; from then on it runs every day. check_connection and the dashboard show when the data exists.
